Sri Lanka’s growing focus on strengthening its cybersecurity capabilities took center stage at the SITREK Cyber & Tech Summit 2026, held on 4-5 March at Cinnamon Life, City of Dreams Colombo.
Hosted by SITREK Group, the summit brought together global cybersecurity experts, policymakers, representatives of the armed forces, banks, financial institutions and corporate leaders to discuss strategies for protecting digital infrastructure and strengthening cyber resilience.
A key highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Collaboration between SITREK Group and Singapore-based technology company ST Engineering, aimed at introducing advanced cyber defense technologies and global expertise to Sri Lanka.
Delivering the keynote address, Goh EngChoon, President – Cyber at ST Engineering, shared global perspectives on emerging cyber threats and the increasing role of advanced technologies in safeguarding national infrastructure and enterprise systems.
The summit was also attended by Waruna Sri Dhanapala, Secretary to the Ministry of Digital Economy, who emphasised the importance of strengthening national cybersecurity capabilities as Sri Lanka continues to expand its digital economy.
In addition to strategic discussions, the summit showcased a range of emerging security technologies and solutions. Demonstrations included AI-driven video analytics from Dragonfruit AI, cloud-based access control and video surveillance technologies from Brivo/Eagle Eye, as well as drone-based surveillance capabilities developed in collaboration with Scouts a Sri Lankan startup company.
The event also featured the launch of Sidekick, a digital platform designed to support operational management within secure environments. The software includes features such as visitor management, vehicle parking management, incident management and venue management, enabling organizations to streamline security-related operations through a unified system.
The Sidekick platform will be made available free of charge to existing SITREK Security Solutions clients as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance service value and operational efficiency.
Speaking at the summit, Jeevaka Wijesinghe, Co-Chairman of SITREK Group, highlighted the importance of international collaboration and technological innovation in addressing the rapidly evolving cyber threat landscape.He noted that partnerships between global technology leaders and local organizations will play an important role in strengthening Sri Lanka’s digital resilience.
