Prof. Aminda Perera assumes duties as SANASA Life Insurance Chairman

On July 17, Prof. Aminda Perera officially assumed the role of Chairman of SANASA Life Insurance PLC, following a ceremony at the head office in Colombo. 

This appointment represents an integral stage in the organisation’s leadership and its ongoing journey toward future achievements. Having consistently provided broad-based, innovative insurance solutions to communities across the country, SANASA Life Insurance operates under a robust administrative structure focused on strategic goal attainment. Prof. Perera’s appointment as Chairman is therefore set to significantly strengthen the organisation’s pursuit of its objectives. 

He is a highly respected academic and a recognised authority in the field of financial management. He earned his BSc in Management (Public) from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, followed by a Diploma in Personal Management from Germany. He went on to obtain an MBA in International Financial Management from India, an MBA from Wayamba University and a PhD in Consumer Behaviour from the same university. Additionally, he holds a Doctor of Business Administration (Honorary) in Management from KEISE University, USA.

He served as a Director of People’s Bank, State Mortgage & Investment Bank, the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority, Civil Aviation Authority and Building Materials Corporation, among many others. He was also a member of the State Enterprises Divestiture Appeal Board and contributed his expertise as a consultant to the State Enterprises Reform Ministry, Buddhasasana Ministry and Wayamba Development. 

Prof. Perera is a renowned resource person in the insurance sector. He is Founding Director of the Diploma and Higher Diploma programmes in insurance as well as the Diploma and Higher Diploma programmes in Personal Financial Management offered by the Wayamba University. 

He also served for many years as Head of the Insurance and Valuation Department at the Wayamba University. Currently, he is a Professor in the Accountancy Department at the Wayamba University. His work has earned him numerous accolades, including a Gold Medal for research and development in Financial Management, Economics, Social Sciences and Marketing, in addition to several other awards recognising his exceptional contributions to insurance and consumer behaviour.
