PIM signs MOU to enroll Customs officers for MBA in CIT

Customs officers are to enroll to the fourth batch of Master of Business Administration in Customs and International Trade (MBA-CIT) by the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM). 

The relevant MOU has been signed on May 29 at the Customs House between the PIM and the Sri Lanka Customs (SLC). 

P.B.S.C. Nonis, the Director General of Customs (DGC) and Dr. Asanga Ranasinghe, Director Postgraduate Institute of Management were the signatories at this event.

This programme will enhance the managerial and Customs Administration capabilities of the Customs officials, and in turn contribute to better administration and higher performance of the SLC. 

Since this degree programme has been coupled with the existing promotion scheme of  SLC, the qualification will serve as a requirement for the carrier development of these officers.

It will also broaden the academic horizons of young graduates for whom the proposed program will serve as an entry-level qualification for advanced international academic studies in Customs and International Trade. This will also serve as an aid for career change and  progression of the recipients. 

On completion of this study programme, the participants will be able to demonstrate critical awareness of fundamental and advanced aspects of Customs Administration, and related functional disciplines while applying the relevant techniques in their roles as managerial professionals of the SLC. They will also deal with complex Customs and related issues systematically and make sound judgments and communicate decisions clearly.

At the end of the programme, in the form of their final project, these officers will identify contemporary issues in Customs and International Trade and propose solutions for SLC to implement them successfully towards betterment of SLC and thereby for the betterment of the country.
