Dr. Dushni Weerakoon named Senior Independent Director at Cargills (Ceylon), Kotmale Holdings

Cargills (Ceylon) PLC and Kotmale Holdings Plc announced the appointment of Dr. Dushni Neelika Weerakoon as their Senior Independent Director, effective 20 May, 2025. The appointment was approved by the company’s Board of Directors at a meeting held on the same day.

The move comes as Cargills (Ceylon) PLC Chairman, Louis Page, and Deputy Chairman/Group CEO, Ranjit Page, are close family members, as defined by the Colombo Stock Exchange Listing Rules. 

Dr. Weerakoon’s appointment fulfills the Corporate Governance requirements under Rule No 9.6.3(a)(iii) of the Colombo Stock Exchange.

Dr. Weerakoon already serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director on the board of Kotmale Holdings PLC, a key player in Sri Lanka’s dairy sector. Kotmale Holdings PLC is a subsidiary of Cargills (Ceylon) PLC, following its acquisition by the latter as part of Cargills’ strategic expansion in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry.
