David Pieris Logistics (Private) Limited (formerly D P Logistics (Pvt.) Limited), the logistics arm of David Pieris Group of Companies, officially inaugurated Jaffna’s first-ever purpose-built, multi-user logistics facility, marking a significant milestone in the development of modern logistics infrastructure in Sri Lanka’s Northern province.

David Pieris Group of Companies Founder and President David Pieris together with Group Chairman and Managing Director Rohana Dissanayake ceremonially cut the ribbon to declare the new state-of-the-art warehouse open, in the presence of the directors from the group companies.

Located at No. 202/01, Kadduvan–Myliddy Road, Myliddy South, Kankesanthurai, Jaffna, in close proximity to Palaly International Airport, the newly established facility is the first modern, professionally managed multi-user warehouse developed in Jaffna and the Northern region.

The investment represents David Pieris Logistics’ first major logistics infrastructure development in Northern Sri Lanka, reinforcing long-term private sector confidence in the region’s post-conflict economic resurgence.

Designed as a scalable, multi-user third-party logistics (3PL) hub, the facility is equipped to support a wide range of industries including FMCG, retail, agriculture and manufacturing. It offers a comprehensive suite of services encompassing warehousing, storage, material handling, value-added services and regional distribution—enabling businesses of varying scales to access reliable, cost-efficient logistics solutions.

Strategically positioned near key transport nodes such as the Kankesanthurai Railway Station, Kankesanthurai Seaport and Palaly International Airport, the facility enables seamless connectivity across air, sea and land transport networks. This strategic location significantly enhances supply chain efficiency, reduces lead times and lowers logistics costs for businesses operating in or serving Northern Sri Lanka, while also strengthening trade linkages with the rest of the country.

The facility also plays a vital role in employment generation and skill development within the region. It creates direct employment opportunities for the local workforce across warehouse operations, administration, transport coordination and facility management, while indirect employment is generated through transport providers, suppliers, maintenance services and other ancillary logistics support services. Importantly, exposure to modern warehouse management systems and global 3PL best practices will contribute to skills transfer and capacity building in the Northern province.

In line with the David Pieris group’s sustainability ethos, the warehouse integrates energy-efficient and environmentally responsible operational practices, reinforcing David Pieris Logistics’ commitment to sustainable and responsible logistics solutions.

David Pieris Logistics Managing Director and CEO Kalum Ketipearachchi stated that the Jaffna facility is envisioned as a catalyst for regional economic growth. He noted that the development would empower local businesses, improve access to national markets, create employment opportunities and strengthen the Northern province’s role within Sri Lanka’s broader supply chain ecosystem.
