The David Pieris Group, through its Social Welfare Committee, has donated a fully equipped computer laboratory to Myiliddy North Kalaimagal Maha Vidyalayam in Kankasanthurai, a school located in a recently resettled area in the Northern Province.

This initiative, fully funded by the David Pieris Group’s Social Welfare Committee, aims to support the digital learning needs of over 130 students currently attending the school.

Many of these students come from underprivileged backgrounds and have previously had to seek better facilities in surrounding schools due to the lack of resources in their own.

The donation includes computers, computer tables, air conditioning machines and computer chairs, along with a complete colour wash of the lab building to create a more conducive learning environment.

In addition, the David Pieris Group has committed to funding the monthly remuneration for a qualified IT instructor for a period of one year, ensuring continuity and quality in digital education.

This project is part of the David Pieris Group’s broader commitment to community development, particularly in education and technology access for rural and underserved areas. Myiliddy North Kalaimagal Maha Vidyalayam, having been relocated to its original site after years of displacement, now serves as a vital educational hub for the area and this computer lab is expected to significantly uplift its learning infrastructure.
