The 20th Build SL Housing & Construction International Expo, which has now become the premier exhibition of the construction industry in Sri Lanka, will be held on May 30 and 31 and June 01, 2025, at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Centre of the BMICH. This exhibition is held at a time when the construction industry is beginning to rise after continuous contractions from March 2020 to December 2023, due to the Covid-19 pandemic and economic debacle resulting in the suspension of capital works of the government.
This year, the expo is organised under the theme ‘We will change development trajectory of Sri Lanka’. It is organised by the Chamber of Construction Industry of Sri Lanka, which is incorporated by an Act of Parliament, as the apex representative body of all who are engaged in the construction sector.
The high degree of enthusiasm displayed by the exhibitors bears proof of their urgency to revive this moribund industry and arguably it is exhibitions such as these that may give a fillip to have the industry rolling.
The ceremonial inauguration by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Urban Development, Construction and Housing Minister Anura Karunathilaka will be held on May 31, 2025.
There is an exceptional line-up of as many as 14 sponsors and many new entrants coming forward as sponsors for this glamorous yet essential event of the industry. The face of the exhibition this time would be braver and bolder and the organising committee has left no stone unturned to encompass as many facets as possible to cover the industry. At this event, there would be as many as 280 product display stalls with a variety on show. A special feature would be the international pavilion with product manufacturers flying over to display their wares from several countries.
The organising committee has pulled out all steps to make this event as representative as possible and viewers would not find it a disappointing experience. The 2025 Build SL Expo would be bigger and better with something for everyone as well as homemakers with soft furnishings amongst the hardware.
