The ASPI edged up as a result of price gains in counters such as C T Holdings, Lion Brewery and Hayleys with the turnover crossing Rs. 2.5 Bn. Meanwhile, the S&P SL20 closed in red. High net worth and institutional investor participation was noted in Sanasa Development Bank, Lanka IOC and Hayleys. Mixed interest was observed in Lee Hedges, ACL Cables and Lanka Realty Investments whilst retail interest was noted in Hela Apparel Holdings, HNB Finance and HNB Finance Rights nonvoting. Foreign participation in the market activity remained at subdued levels with foreigners closing as net sellers. The Banking sector was the top contributor to the market turnover (due to Sanasa Development Bank) whilst the sector index edged up by 0.02%. The share price of Sanasa Development Bank increased by Rs 4.30 (7.96%) to close at Rs 58.30. Capital Goods sector was the second highest contributor to the market turnover (due to ACL Cables) whilst the sector index edged up by 0.01%.
The share price of ACL Cables recorded a gain of Rs 0.20 (0.20%) to close at Rs 100.00. Lanka IOC, Lee Hedges and Lanka Realty Investments were also included amongst the top turnover contributors. The share price of Lanka IOC gained Rs 0.75 (0.54%) to close at Rs 140.75. The share price of Lee Hedges moved up by Rs 9.00 (3.00%) to close at Rs 309.00. The share price of Lanka Realty Investments appreciated by Rs 2.50 (4.63%) to close at Rs 56.50.
