The 50th and final sale of the year was conducted on December 30, 2025, following the rescheduling of sales due to Cyclone Ditwah in late November.
On account of a one-day auction, the offerings were restricted to 4.2 M/Kgs, of which the Ex-Estate offerings comprised of 0.76 M/Kgs.
Overall, a bearish market sentiment was seen, perhaps following the fewer number of working days from the previous week’s auction.
The quality of the Ex-Estate offerings was barely maintained. Overall, a sharper decline was seen for the teas in the higher price bracket.
The Western BOP/BOPFs in the higher price bracket declined by up to Rs.100 per kilogramme and more for select high-priced teas. Most other teas on offer recorded a Rs.20-40 per kilogramme decline over the previous week’s prices.
The only exception were the Western High Grown BOP Specials and PEKs, which were limited on offer and appreciated by up to Rs.100 per kilogrammes.
The Low Growns totalled approximately 1.69 M/Kgs. The Leafy, Semi-Leafy, Tippy and Premium categories met with fair demand.
In the Leafy and Semi-Leafy catalogues, the select BOP1s were firm, whilst the Best and Below Best together with the clean/bolder varieties were easier. The teas at the lower end maintained.
The high-priced OP1s were firm, whilst the Best, Below Best and the teas at the bottom appreciated. The OPs, in general, were lower. The high-priced OPAs were easier, whilst the balance was irregular, following quality.
A few select Best PEKs appreciated on special inquiry, whilst the balance together with the Best was easier. However, the Below Best and the teas at the bottom were firm to dearer. The PEK1s, in general, were irregular and mostly lower.
In the Tippy catalogue, the well-made FBOPs sold around last levels, whilst the balance was irregular, following quality. The Select Best and Best FF1s were firm, whilst the Below Best and the teas at the bottom were irregularly easier.
In the Premium catalogue, the Very Tippy teas together with the Best varieties sold around last levels, whilst the Below Best together with the teas at the lower end were irregular. However, the leafier varieties declined.
