19 branches opened over weekend to support customer transition

Selected Nations Trust Bank branches will remain open next weekend to assist customers transitioning from HSBC Sri Lanka, following the completion of the transfer of the latter’s retail banking portfolio.

A total of 19 NTB branches will operate on Saturday, 9 May 2026, and Sunday, 10 May 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon, offering support services including the collection of welcome packs and customer assistance. The selected locations include Mount Lavinia, Maharagama, Kiribathgoda, Batticaloa, Galle, Thalawathugoda, Kandy, Havelock Town, Panadura, Nugegoda, Kohuwala, Wattala, Jaffna, Negombo, Kurunegala, Ratnapura, Matara, Pettah Bankshall Street, and the Horton Place Private Banking Centre. These branches were also open on May 2 and 3 to assist customers with transition-related activities.

Customers have been issued welcome packs containing account details, debit and credit cards, and chequebooks. Those who have not yet received these are advised to contact NTB’s 24-hour help desk or visit a branch for redelivery or collection. The bank has also enabled multiple activation channels, including its Nations Direct mobile app, ATM network, and hotline support. Moreover, if required, customers may also visit any of the 95 NTB branches on or after 4 May 2026 to collect their debit cards over the counter and access their funds. As part of the transition, all customer balances, loan accounts, credit limits, overdrafts, and accumulated rewards points have been replicated within NTB’s systems. The bank stated that customers will retain equivalent financial positions post-migration.

In terms of customer segmentation, former HSBC Premier Enhanced and Premier clients will be onboarded to NTB’s Private Banking proposition, while general banking customers will be offered the Nations Nova proposition. Existing NTB customer segments, including Private Banking and Inner Circle clients, will remain unchanged. (SD)
