Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe revealed today that a Rs. 100 million grant provided by the World Bank to open Parliament proceedings, COPE and COPA live to the media were credited to the Treasury by P.B. Jayasundara but what happened to the funds was yet to be known.
He told Parliament that in 2006 and 2007 when he was the Chairman of the COPE, World Bank provided Rs. 100 million in appreciation for the work done by the COPE.
He said the World Bank granted Rs. 100 million to ensure transparency of the COPE, COPA and Parliament proceedings and the task could not be completed at that time as the funds were credited to the Treasury by P.B. Jayasundara. “We still do not know what happened to the funds,” he said.
He said he was happy that the COPE and COPA meetings have been opened to media, at least later. (Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)

The money was credited to the treasury. The minister does not know what happened after that. I call it the "joke of the day". This guy does not understand government accounting. He should keep his mouth shut public should not be messed up with statements from responsible people like this. Treasury accounting is subject to the work of several accountants and subject to audit. If one asks where is my GST contribution the answer is it's accounted just like the money received by a company from any sale it makes. Can anyone in the company give a specific answer on the exact utilisation of the sale proceeds?

Don't ask "what happened" from the public, because we are not the authority to know. You are in a position of Authority and should know, so why don't you reveal? Again and again speaking in rhymes and playing games.

Wijedasa is trying another game. Don't worry about the past, get the compensations from ship wrecks and also learn to prepare proper bills to the Parliament which do not violate the Constitution of the country. You are good at diverting the attention from one topic to another. Catch the guy who got $250 million first and get the Judiciary to act as per the laws of the land and not as per the requests of the politicians. Do your job!

This man well known as DEALDASA comes out with something sensational now and again even digging old graves as in this instance, to show the country that he is a honest Politician. People know who he is.
