Sri Lanka's Gayanthika Abeyrathne and Dilhani Lekamge won bronze medals on the opening day of the Asian Athletics Championships 2023, which began in Bangkok, Thailand today.
Abeyrathne came third in the Women's 1500m event with a time of 4 minutes 14.39 seconds, while Lekamge threw for a distance of 60.93 metres to win bronze in the Women's Javelin.
Earlier, Aruna Darshana and Rajitha Rajakaruna qualified for the finals of the Men's 400m event, with times of 45.70secs and 46.12secs respectively.
Meanwhile, Nadeesha Ramanayake clocked a time of 59.06secs to qualify for the finals of the Women's 400m.
