Sajith responds to Jerome’s remarks; no room for religious hatred

Leader of Opposition Sajith Premadasa has denounced Pastor Jerome saying the controversial Pastor is disturbing religious harmony.

“We vehemently oppose the statement made by Pastor Jerome who had made irresponsible statements. The statement he made on Buddhism will disturb harmony and coexistence. Therefore we denounce him to the maximum,” Premadasa said in a special statement.

“I am extremely saddened by the statement made by this pastor, as a person who believes in Buddhism and is dedicated to safeguarding the religion. We are living in an era where religious and ethnic harmony is needed more than ever before. Therefore the irresponsible statement made by Pastor Jerome will unleash religious violence, hatred and it will release anger. Buddhism is a global religion. It promotes love to all beings, good behavior. The truth in Buddhism teaches to respect other religions. No one has the right to insult Buddhism,” Mr. Premadasa said.

The entire country is awake and watchful with regard to the issue pertaining to Pastor Jerome,” he added.

Mr. Premadasa’s statement comes a day after Former MP P. Harison challenged Premadasa to come up with a statement on Pastor Jerome. (Yohan Perera)

With all these religious values first heal the country, politically and socially. Then economic revival will follow. Heroic body guards of Buddhism and other religions have failed to practice justice and eliminate corruption.

Premadasa's statement: "Buddhism is a global religion" is not correct! As the SJB's presidential candidate, he should actually know this! Buddhism lacks all the classic features of a religion! It is an atheistic philosophy that knows neither a personal creator god nor an immortal soul! So that he does not publicly repeat this important mistake in his testimony, I recommend him to study the works Visuddhi-Magga and the Abhidhammattha-Sangaha! At the latest when he starts as a presidential candidate in the elections, he should have eliminated this ignorance!

Sajith what do you have to say about Julani’s affiliation with Jerome. Looks like you don’t have control of your wife nor your party members. You should step down and give the party leadership to someone else. Sad SJB is getting destroyed because of your incompetence.
