SL to get Cyber Security Authority this year

Efforts are underway to form a Cyber Security Authority this year, the Ministry of Technology announced today.

Addressing the 15th annual National Conference on Cyber Security 2023 organised by the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (SLCERT), he said that under the National Information and Cyber Security Strategic Plan, the Cyber Security Act is expected to be submitted to Parliament this year.

He also points out that it will be possible to establish the Cyber Security Authority.

The Cyber Security Act is expected to protect the privacy of citizens from the harmful consequences of digitalization, as well as the data of individual institutions in the public and private sectors and websites.

Many IT experts and professionals participated in this annual conference under the theme "Protecting Critical National Information Infrastructure".

During the conference, the Information and Cyber Security Policy Statement was unveiled, and the first publication was presented to the State Minister by the CERT Chairman.

"Our Information Security Act has currently been adopted by Parliament. As a result, efforts will be made this year to form the Cyber Security Authority. The Cyber Security Act has been translated," the State Minister said.

The Cyber Security Act is supposed to secure individual and organizational data in the public and commercial sectors, as well as execute activities such as website security. There will be no social media censorship without it. Social media users are sometimes interested in this as well. We shall be able to safeguard our country from cyberattacks as well as personal risks and difficulties if this Act is implemented.

In our nation, children's lives have been lost as a result of certain social media activities. This act allows us to safeguard all of them. It is critical to use social media in a way that doesn't harm individuals. That is why this act allows you to do so.
