Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Leader Sajith Premadasa and others who are eyeing to be ministers in a future government should build up their images, its MP Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka said during the weekend.
Speaking during a party meeting, Field Marshal Fonseka said there is no point in basking in the past glory without building positive images for the future. “We have a new leader today. This leader and others who are aspiring to become ministers in a future government should build up their images. People should feel these leaders can deliver in their performance. There is no point in talking of what one’s grandfather or father did since it is no solution to bread and butter issues,” MP Fonseka said.
“Sri Lanka’s crisis began as soon as the colonial rule ended. The politicians who ruled the nation after the British left were only interested in securing a future for their own families. They were only interested in hoarding wealth for themselves and their children. However, people of this country never felt it so seriously. They managed to carry on with their hand-to-mouth existence. However, the country has plunged into the abyss today. Reality is now dawning on people,” he added. (Yohan Perera)
