Former Minister Ravi Karunanayake yesterday alleged that a top opposition politician is behind the false news that is being circulated in social media involving him.
Mr. Karunanayake was referring to reports that were being circulated in social media that some stocks of sugar which were recently recovered belonged to a company which is owned by him.
“It is someone in the opposition that is behind this media campaign which is aimed at slinging mud at me,” he told Daily Mirror. “They tried to sling mud at me so many times but they were not able to prove a single allegation,” he added. He said neither he nor any of his family members import sugar. (YOHAN PERERA)
