Plans were afoot to bring the decision making with regard to the intelligence information of the State Intelligence Services (SIS) under an official of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the United States just as in 2001, Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa said today.

He told Parliament that the 20-member US delegation of the Pentagon headed by US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs (PDASD) Jedidiah P. Royal visited the SIS office in Colombo.

"We heard that the US delegation paid a visit to the SIS office. Plans are underway to bring the SIS information handling and decision making under CIA officials. This officer is to decide which information to send and which not to. The same operation was in place in 2001 and it was withdrawn in 2004," he said.

The MP said the government should reveal what was discussed and what decisions were taken during the US delegation's visit and added that it was reported that they met the President, Defence Secretary and heads of Intelligence Services.

Chief Government Whip Prasanna Ranatunga said the government would inform the House regarding the matter on a future date.

Foreign Minister Ali Sabri said the Foreign Ministry was unaware of the visit and that it was handled by the Defence Ministry.(Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)

We are a country of cowards. That is why fellows like Weerawansa survive and boldly walk around without getting a shoe on his head. Up to now, can anyone prove a single revelation he has made which is true. Fellows like this survive due to ignorance of the Public.

Good. Hope they will be able to deal with double faced political idiots who blow with the wind after that. We all remember his hot air about the proposed MCC agreement in 2018 and now know how much the country lost for no reason as a consequence of it, and also the irreparable damage and destruction caused to the country by bringing in GR on the back of those claims. Idiotic to say the least.

We must cultivate good relationship with big powers and countries like India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Japan,Philippines etc; for our economic development, employment opportunities and augmentation of our dollar reserves. Just criticising a country or an agreement signed etc; doesn't going to bring any benefits to this bankrupt country. Be reasonable in critising without contributing anything to the country.

Thanks Wimal. You only seem to have the guts to foretell these always. Be MCC, Yugananda deal or 13 etc you acted as our saviour by revealing the truth first. They all turned out to be true. Ranil is untrustworthy always

Many poor would welcome all USA involvements Wednesday, 22 February 2023 09:29 PM

The country is deeply in debt, and lacks funds to provide for the poor. Many of the poor would prefer USA as boss, compared to having India ever threatening to invade us. China is a just a toothless මුදලාලි who is just all noise but can't ever get their money back except by begging, which we don't have to take seriously.

Good! CIA will check on your double identity as well. Time to go and fast unto death.
