Sri Lanka would not impose any new COVID-19 health protocols for incoming visitors, the health authorities decided at a meeting this week.
The tourism industry sources confirmed to Mirror Business that no restrictions would be placed on those arriving in Sri Lanka.
A new discussion ensued worldwide regarding the return of at least some COVID-19 protocols following the opening of China after the authorities gave up on their ‘zero COVID’ policy.
While several countries were quick to impose health restrictions that were specific to travellers from China, Sri Lanka Tourism said it did not want to discriminate against any of its source markets.
However, the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority issued a blanket health protocol list last weekend, without the approval from the health authorities, which was retracted soon after following harsh criticism.
