Former Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa and five others have made an application requesting them to be acquitted from the money laundering case.

The defence is to make an application before High Court Judge Nawaratne Marasinghe in terms of Section 200 (1) of the Code of Criminal Procedure requesting the Court to record a verdict of acquittal, on behalf of the accused, in view of the fact that the evidence led by the prosecution has totally failed to establish the commission of the offence charged against the accused in the indictment.

The case was fixed for defence submissions to be taken up on September 13.

The Attorney General had filed indictments against six accused for their alleged involvement in laundering money amounting to Rs.30 million through Gowers Corporate Services (Pvt) Limited. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)

Even though these clan of elite rogues are acquitted on technical faults of bribery commission etc. they never file a case against the very people, filed the cases against them, to claim damages for tarnishing their name. Why? They are genuine elite thieves without any doubt. It is common sense as it is a drama played by both parties, as usual to eye wash.

AG so far has failed to successfully prosecute these cases where big politicians are involved. They fail after prosecution case or is withdrawn due to lack of evidence or fault in the charges. Why file them?

Namal hope your conscience will not allow you to escape from money laundering. Your family itself soaked with money laundering. Try to be honest at least hereafter without cheating and looting others.

Honorable Judge should not allow Namal to escape from Money Laundering as he had made over 30 billion on this game.
