Another death has occurred due to inferior quality medicines despite the Health Minister reiterating that no inferior quality medicine is used in the country, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said today.

He told Parliament that a woman from Galle has died after being administered Propofol, which is said to have failed the quality test.

He said Propofol is among the three drugs which had failed sample quality tests.

The Opposition Leader said that when he had raised the issue in Parliament, Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella had claimed there are no inferior quality medicines being used.

“We neither have a place to lodge a complaint regarding incidents of substandard medicine nor a unit to look into such incidents. We must have a proper mechanism in that regard. The National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) is a den of thieves. Its Chairman and the Chief Executive Officer should take the responsibility," he said.(Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)

Ask for a debate on the import of inferior drugs. You will lose the vote but will be able tom collect the statements made by many in Parliament to use at any elaction

President Premadasa was the only politician who courageously demanded the Indian Army to leave Sri Lanka, and now his son is the only politician revealing that Indian medicines are still being used an Friday, 07 July 2023 02:57 PM

We can’t keep on saying “ inferior quality “ medicine as people are dying in Sri Lankan hospitals. We have to be precise and say “INDIAN MEDICINES” are causing deaths to our people.

After the death of the previous patient due to this drug used in anesthesia the idiots at NMRA said that they would withdraw its use. Looks as though they are still using it.
