Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, along with his wife Ioma Rajapaksa, was seen with UNP Chairman Vajira Abeywardena at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) on the night of July 9, ironically the day which marked the first anniversary of his fleeing office following the Aragalaya, a source from the airport said.
Mr. Rajapaksa and Mr. Abeywardena had arrived at the airport from Singapore on the same flight. The airport authorities have seen them having a look at the ongoing construction work of the airport and walking leisurely.
It is learnt that Mr. Rajapaksa has arrived at the airport from Laos via Singapore. He fled the country in the face of mounting public pressure last year. (Kelum Bandara)

People are commenting just out of their dreams without any proof. Gota was not a thief. He looked the other way because he didn't have guts to oppose the brothers. Gota did good things when he was the Defense Secretary, if Ranil or Sajith were in power from that time, the LTTE war was still going on or the North East would have been declared as a separate country and the government would be engaging in continously battle to secure the borders from the encroachments from ne settlers. Gota did blunders but others who robbed the country are still managing the country.
