Whilst questioning on the investigations carried out on the death of businessman Dinesh Schaffter, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Eran Wickramaratne today said no foreign investor would come to Sri Lanka if justice is not meted out to the late businessman’s family.

MP Wickramaratne who raised the matter in Parliament questioned the conduct of the Judicial Medical Officer (JMO) who conducted investigations.

“Initial JMO report said the victim was strangled to death. However the same JMO later said the victim has committed suicide. How can this be?", he questioned.

“Foreign businessmen are usually invited by the local investors. Foreign investors actually work with their local counterparts. Therefore Sri Lanka cannot think of getting foreign investments if they feel their local counterparts are not safe,” he added.

“The President should look into this case as the Schaffter family is close to him,” he also said.(Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)

Local and foreign women are not safe neither in Sri Lanka. Rich and poor. Please question that in Parliament too for a change. Even if the are not "important" investors.

When there is a political involvement, the culprits cannot be found.
