What is all this fuss about an egg? Just over half a year ago the price of eggs was of little concern to the people of Sri Lanka. The forces of supply and demand determined the price of eggs. But this heinous government has made a total mess of the economy of this country and it is reflected by the hassle over the price of eggs as well. Meanwhile, the nutrition of children is gravely affected, not only due to the current price and scarcity of eggs, but due to the scarcity of all essential goods and the people who raise concerns are treated so brutally by a dictator no better than Hiltler and Idi Amin combined.

Where is the development plan for the country? What a bunch of idiots in the Parliament. Now selling price of Eggs has become an issue. Name another single country who waste time on matters of this nature. Develop the Tea, Rubber, Coconut and other minor export crops. But no plan for those.

It all depends, if you import eggs, it's cheaper than locally produced eggs! Now Lankan Dumass poultry farmers can't even produce sufficient supply of eggs to local market, I squarely put the the blame on politicians for that, politicians benefit immensely when you import everything!! And we've politicians with all kinds of titles before their name but can't get things done!! The country officially declared bankrupt, and that explains the efficiency of the Dumbass 225 !!

Sell eggs by weight Although the price of eggs in the market goes up daily, the size is getting smaller. Producers are facing many problems in running their poultry farms and as a result they increase the price. Consumers are helpless in this situation and have to buy whatever is available irrespective of the size or the price of an egg. As a rational solution to both parties – producer and consumer, could not the ministry of trade direct the producers to sell eggs by weight not the number. Many fruits, vegetables etc. which were sold in the past by numbers are now sold by weight. It would be easier and more practical.

I have been telling this before, and I say it again. These .05 cent worth politicians want to be in the news, otherwise people will forget them. They will ask Harsh who?? if we tell the name. Mr. Chairman your splitting hairs to ascertain the cost of an egg when there are many underhand dealings taking place in billions as this is not material to the total of the waste, commissions, and pilfering of the public purse. Unless your focus is changed to the macro level of the economy you will have egg on your face on trivial matters of this nature ? Also petty questions will be asked by the public what did the egg say to the boiling water if you want to get hard, it will take me awhile "I just got laid by the chick over there"

The problem why the egg prices have gone up is all the ingredients needed to produce poultry food has become very expensive . That is why the cost of production of an egg has gone up .Only the mega farmers get the different raw materials at cheaper prices so the small farmer cannot compete with these mega poultry farms
