The assault on Aragalaya Member Priyath Nikeshala triggered a verbal duel in Parliament today with SJB MP Nalin Bandara Jayamaha stating that such assaults would result in riots similar to May 9 last year and Chief Government Whip Prasanna Ranatunga calling the opposition to be neutral.

“Nikeshala came under physical attack by the Kalutara Urban Council deputy chairman and we heard that both have been arrested. This is a disturbing trend,” Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said.

“The Leader of Oppositon should be neutral when dealing with the aragalaya considering the fact that an Aragalaya member is behind the sexual assault of a 16- year-old gorl in Kalutara, Chief Government Whip Prasanna Ranatunga responded.

“Aragalaya members engaged in riots on May 9 last year,” he added.

“The Aragala members in Kalutara worked for a former Minister in the District.(Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)

Please don't resort to politics of revenge and grudge...Now we must move forward...if we start this revenge politics it would be a dangerous trend to this nation ..we have had enough blood bath and no need to have any clash for politics at all . Go for election and have a say on election..peace must prevail at all time

I cannot see Prasanna's logic requesting Opposition to be neutral about Aragalaya. A person convicted by courts must not sit in Parliament chamber until his appeal is heard.

Prasanna is an a grade rouge who was punished by courts for taking bribes , As a nation we must be ashamed to have him in the parliament where laws are being enacted

From the time Tiran became the Minister in charge of the Police, Police violence and thuggery by SLPP supporters have increased.

So SJB wishes that Aragalaya violence returns, I think SJB also wishes that Covid returns too. At tge end they want to transfer power to the Puthanao.

KAPPANG continuing to be an MP and holding a Ministerial Portfolio in the country is a great shame and disgrace for Sri Lanka.

Aragalaya has become a very sensitive issue which would only be beneficial for a particular, once leftist but now centrist main political party, hell-bent only to grab power and except them if any other political tries to pacify the Aragalaya would only boomerang on them.

Kasippu Bandara along with Freddie Silva's son (Sajith) are capital kotiraja pawns.

If these attacks by the SLPP goons against Aragalaya participants continue ,this may certainly a start of new wave of protest against this corrupt government
