University dons and the non academic staff left the state universities because of the economic reason. No doubt about it. There is no way to retain them without increasing the salaries and other benefits. Government if fully aware of the situation. There problem all due to electing a wrong government with thief's and uneducated chaps. It is the people who elected these fellows must answer. The state universities may have to reduce the intake or bring staff form foreign universities

Not only university Dons, pilots, aircraft engineers, doctors, and specialists in different fields, have left the country in hoards. We can recover from financial bankruptcy at some point, but not from the exodus of the educated. We need a political system change. The powerful Executive Presidential System must go, and the maddening hybrid electoral system must go.

Don't be fool about this ...Sri Lankan universities pay good salaries but these people are greedy and now some western countries have relaxed their visa and these people use their university posts to get VISA to some of these countries...so that they and their children could have better life than in Sri Lanka; they make use of this opportunity to migrate.... economic criss has not affected them as it does all other sectors

Do Not blame Uni Dons Blame the Government which encouraged people to seek employment overseas to bring in badly needed FOREX. Well! that what these Dons have done. On another matter, I am surprised there are third rate Universities around the world ready to employ these Dons who have little or no practical experience OR fluency in English.

Minister, What are the root causes for these people to vacate their posts. Why not address the causes first to see that those remaining will stay. You have so many advisors and I believe they provide poor advice. Take practical decisions

Having an election is the best thing to do as we can't go on with the current set of rouges in the Parliament. The tax is too high as people are unable to live after paying tax. People also see the corruption and misuse of the tax collected from the public

Lol. Majority of the educated people want to leave while already many have left. When the government work with a corrupted organization like imf that gives loans to corrupted politicians and then increase utility bills and increase taxes unbearably to pay those corrupted institutes, who will stay here. Nine out of ten will leave immidietly as soon as they have the opportunity. Imf will never let this country develop.

Sri Lankan Human Resources are an export commodity. They better their financial positions and also help the country with foreign exchange. Promote the next level staff so that they get an opportunity to grow.
