Custom officers at the airport arrested a 36-year-old woman who is alleged to have sold a 5.5 acre block of land in Pugoda at Owitigama to 41 people. She had fled to India and was arrested on her arrival at the Bandaranaike Airport.

Several complaints had been made to the police and the CID by businessmen in Nugegoda, Maharagama, Kosgama, Pugoda, Kosgama, Moratuwa and Homagama saying they had bought the same block of land by paying up to five million rupees.

The businessmen in their complaint also said she had the backing of someone in the District Land Registry Office.
