Selvam Adaikkalanathan, who was elected to parliament on the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) ticket said today his party intended to function as the main opposition in parliament.

He said the two main parties had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on forming a national unity government and therefore his party would be eligible to be the main opposition.

The TNA won 16 seats in parliament from the electoral districts in the North and East. (Romesh Madusanka)
