Video: Ranil wants report on alleged SL combatant

Cabinet spokesperson and Minister Rajitha Senaratne announcing the Cabinet decisions said that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe had requested the IGP to investigate the incident and close associates of the deceased involved the recent Syria attack and submit a report to him.

The deceased was a one time Principal of an International school in Galewela and alleged to be a combatant of the ISIs.

A special police team is due to conduct the investigations.

It was reported that a Sri Lankan Karate black belt holder from Galewela had been killed during an aerial attack in Syria.

It also alleged that he is an ISIS combatant, who was involved in fighting against the Syrian government, and while he was in action he had died a few days ago. The deceased had been identified as Aby Sureh Sailani of the ISIS organization. He was 37 years old and a father of six children. His wife is in an advance stage of pregnancy for the delivery of the seventh child. (Sanath Desmond)
