The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) informed Colombo Additional Magistrate Mohammed Sahabdeen yesterday that Colombo North DIG Vass Gunawardena had threatened the CID team, led by ASP Sahani Abeysekara, which was currently questioning Mr. Gunawardena who is under detention orders.

He is alleged to have said, “I am a murderer, you all are not able to keep me inside forever and when I am out, see what I will do to you all”.

The CID informed the magistrate of this when producing a report on the progress of the investigation into the killing of businessman Shyam Huzamdeen. (Manopriya Gunasekara and Ileshan Amarasinghe)
