US condemns violence in Aluthgama and Beruwela

U.S. Embassy today condemned the violence that has spread over the weekend in Aluthgama and Beruwela.

Releasing a media statement the US Embassy in Colombo said “We urge the government to ensure that order is preserved and the lives of all citizens, places of worship, and property are protected. We urge the authorities to investigate these attacks and bring those responsible to justice. We also urge all sides to refrain from violence, exercise restraint, and respect the rule of law.”

Could this actually happen in Sri Lanka.Yes absolutely When a government stand by and do nothing and not provide protection to ALL of its citizens. Sri Lanka can not afford to be another Burma where Buddhist gangs have gone on murderous rampages against Muslims while the government looks on.It is every Sri Lankan citizens responsibility to speak out against what has taken place.Stand up and fight for decency.
