Two Lankans nabbed with 71 gold slabs



Two Sri Lankans were arrested this morning at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) attempting to smuggle in 71 gold slabs valued at Rs. 53.72 million, Customs Spokesman G.A. Leslie Gamini said.

The suspects were arrested at the BIA arrival lounge and the customs have seized 71 gold slabs weighing 7.1 kg and other jewellery weighing 3.644 kg.
These gold slabs were concealed in calculator boxes and brought from Dubai, he said. (Chaturanga Pradeep)
