Two persons were drowned this evening in the Kiran-Thuriyadi River area when they lost balance while standing on a log, this happened while they were trying to take some photographs of the River.

Six youths had come to this area from Valachchenei, police said. The victims have been identified as Anthonypulle Dilip Kumar (24) and Selvathurai Kedis (18).

The others were rescued by army personnel from a nearby camp with the assistance of some villagers.

The bodies were also found by them within two-three hours. The rescued were admitted to the Valachchenei Government Hospital. (Supun Dias)
