Tsunami warning rehearsal today

A tsunami rehearsal will be conducted between 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm today covering 14 Districts in the country, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said.

Assistant director of the DMC (Early warning) Pradeep Kodippili said the awareness programme will be held in Hambantota, Kalutara, Moratuwa, Batticoloa and Trinkomalee districts by activating the early warning towers located in the respective areas.

The programme will provide guidance to people to find places of safety and check Tsunami Early Warning systems, the DMC said.
