Three university students sentenced for ragging

Three Peradeniya University students who pleaded guilty to charge of ragging a junior were sentenced to six months rigorous imprisonment suspended for five years.

The three students were accused of assaulting and sexually abusing a student of the Arts Faculty in 2011.

The Kandy High Court ordered each of the three students to pay Rs.335,000 to the victim.

Very good move. I was in the same university from 1982 to 1991 the delay being due to the civil unrest in the country. Most of the university students are helpless . Only a handful of thugs do this sort of things. They should be punished.

Suspension should be from the university and not the sentence.
