Teacher remanded for assault

II am a teacher.I cane children for doing mischievous things.So far I didnt had any problems.But after this incident I am scared to punish children.

Well there are more effective non violent ways to punishing, like informing the parents, suspending from school for a few days, publicizing their wrong doing, etc.

Violent punishment only makes the children more stubborn and arrogant.

During our school days, we too got hammered by then teachers for doing wrong things. We became good citizens because of that.( handi gaapu hoddai, handi nogapu hoddai athara wenasa dannawa neda?) . Teachers must have a right to hammer children.Mind every body, we do have a good culture, unlike wetern counties.

some teachers come to the school with hot temper after quarreling with those at home and the students and the staff are prey of her mood. those welltrained in primary education and characteristic in teaching method without cane should be selected to teach children . dont want teachers who could be sent to serve in defence ministry

Isnt it a criminal case to ASSAULT someone? How could a teacher assualt a 11 year old kid? Is that a wrong expression of the punishment this teacher had given this kid or he actually hammered bones out of this kid? This is what we suppose to know before making comments. A mild punishing from a school teacher is needed to decipline school kids. We had loads of masters in our college to take care of decipline and thanks to them , we became valuble assests to this country

It is time that the Child Protection Authority gave clear cut instructions to the schools about raising a hand at a child. In my research I found that many teachers had no idea that they should not use corporal punishment, many told me that it was not an offence and was sanctioned in their schools, and had no idea of positive reinforcement methods.

It is good to take action against errant teachers. Make an example of them. On the other hand, please do educate the teachers and children on what behavior is acceptable and what is harmful to the children.
