Teacher released on personal bail

A Kiribathgoda school teacher, who was produced in Court yesterday on charges of having slapped a female student was released on a personal bail of Rs.100,000.

The student’s parents had in complaint to the police said their daughter had problems with her vision after she was slapped by the teacher on April 29.

According to the student the teacher had slapped her because she had told the principal who visited the classroom that the teacher had not come to the class. The doctor who treated the student had asked her to rest for a month and later it was found that she had problems with her sight.
