Sluice gates opened in Central Province

The Disaster Management Centre today declared a minor flood situation in the Central Province as major reservoirs including Upper Kotmale, Mausakele, Castlereigh, Lakshapana and Norton Bridge started overflowing as a result of the torrential rains.

Accordingly it was reported that four sluice gates of Upper Kotmale Reservoir and three gates from Lakshapana were opened this afternoon (YP)
