Sri Lanka would have been better placed at the UNHRC sessions in Geneva if the government had allowed former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka to defend the country, the United National Party (UNP) said yesterday.
UNP parliamentarian Lakshman Kiriella said the government should have listened to his plea to allow Mr. Fonseka to meet members of the experts’ panel appointed by the United Nations to inquire into the human rights violations and accountability issues during the final stages of the war.
