Video: Sanath on slippery wicket
The name of veteran cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya should be removed from the name of Matara Cricket ground as Sanath Jayasuriya had led the attack on the students of the Ruhuna University, the United National Party demanded today.
“I will make a request to the Matara Municipal Council to change the name of Sanath Jayasuriya sports ground into its previous name St. Servasious because Deputy Minister Jayasuriya had assaulted University Students- an act unsuitable for a Minister,” UNP Matara District Parliamentarian Mangala Samaraweera told a news conference today.
He said the name of the ground was renamed as Sanath Jayasuriya in honour of his achievements. (Lahiru Pothmulla and Sanath Desmond)
