Richmond student dies in an accident
A 17-year-old Advanced Level student of Richmond College, Galle died after falling from a tree while engaged in decoration work in connection with the school inter-house sports meet, Galle police said.
The tragedy had occurred when the victim Pradeep Kavinda Madanayaka had attempted to cut down an arecanut tree on Thursday evening. He was rushed to the Karapitiya Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The post-mortem was due to be held at the Karapitiya hospital. (D.G. Sugathapala)
