Quadruple murder: Lack of evidence, suspects released

The four suspects who were produced in Court in connection with the killing of four youth at Poddala were released by the Baddegama Magistrate this morning because of the lack of evidence against them.

The four youth were reported to have been killed to avenge the death of Kumara Seneviratne in Galle on October 25.
Among the suspects were Mr. Seneviratne’s son and his son-in-law.

Meanwhile the funerals of three of the youth were held yesterday at the Ethiligoda- Mahawatta Public Cemetery in Poddala under tight security.
The funeral of the other victim is to be held later. The Army and Special Task Force (STF) provided security for the funerals attended by residents of Pilana, Ambalanwatta and Akmeemana. (Supun Dias and D.G Sugathapala)

What has happened to Sri Lanka is the attitude of people who wants instantly to arrest culprits and inflict a punishment on the following day. They exert undue pleasure for the law authorities
and they make hasty decisions with this prreasure and catch innocence people and produce them to the court just to cover up public agitation.
