Minister Rauff Hakeem while roundly condemning the incidents in Dambulla said that it is the desire of his party to promote communal harmony and coexistence among all communities living in the country.

He said that he will discuss the issue with all community leaders and with the President who has returned to the country upon completion of an official visit to South Korea. The Minister made these remarks upon conclusion of a meeting with the SLMC hierarchy in Colombo today.

Mr. Hakeem, please ask your responsible personnel in Dambulla to provide the following information to the Govt/, Newspapers and the Chief of Dambulla temple. (1) the date that this plot of land for the mosques was purchased. (2) the date that construction plans for the mosque was approved. (3) Who approved it with names. (4) When did you start to construct this mosque. (5) Were they not aware that this land is inside the area marked as the Buddhist Sacred Zone, Dambulla at the time of purchase. (6) What is difficulty in constructing this mosque in area outside the demarcated area. (7) Did you people bribed any of the members of the approval authority to sell this land. (8) Please give this information so that Govt. could take proper action. By providing this information you will help to diffuse the situation and to solve this problem. Thank you.

or for all those buddha statues installed in almost every road junctions?
