Police used tear gas and water cannon to disperse the protesting university students who had reached Fort.

Heavy traffic was also reported in and around the Fort area.

The protest march organised by the Inter University Student Federation (IUSF) began from the Kelaniya University this morning over several issues including the reduction of the allocation for the education sector.
