In its fresh efforts to renew ties with Sri Lanka, Norway is to explore opportunities in cooperating with the government in the reconciliation process, it is learnt.
Norwegian Foreign Affairs Minister Borge Brende , during his one day official visit to Sri Lanka, held talks with former President Chandrika Kumaratunga heading the Office of National Unity and Reconciliation (ONUR).
At the meeting, Ms. Kumaratunga briefed the Norwegian Minister about measures being taken by the government in this regard.
It was in 1999 during her presidency that Norway was invited to play the role of facilitator in peace talks between her government and the LTTE.
During the meeting, Mr. Brende reportedly said his government would seek opportunities to cooperate with Sri Lanka at this hour.
