There is no invitation from the United National Party (UNP) to the Democratic National Alliance (DNA) to join together, DNA president Jayantha Ketagoda told Daily Mirror Online yesterday.
He said that UNP parliamentarians and committee members are requesting the DNA to have a joint party, but said that UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe had not made any telephone calls after the Fonseka released till now.
“There is a false rumour spreading that we will join hands with the present government. We have no such plans. Even if we wanted to, Sarath Fonseka wouldn’t have been imprisoned for two and a half years. He has no intention whatsoever to join the government.”
He further stated that, Sarath Foneska’s main ambition is to create a common party with the support of the public and to make a new government to serve the nation. (ISA)

Probably DNA was expecting an invitation from the UNP, after finding that there is no such offer from the Government. UNP should never absorb these parties.

With leadership struggle in the UNP, DNA joining will be adding fuel to the fire. However , its not a bad idea.
