Ministry condemns anti-Islamic video

The Buddha Sasana and Religious Affairs Ministry today condemned the anti-Islamic video that has been shown in some countries.

Acting Minister W.M.K.D.S. Gunawardane said religious freedom was guaranteed by the Constitution.

He said no individual or group had the license to offend religious sensitivities.

“We ask those who produced the video to withdraw it from circulation. We do not approve the defamation of any religion,” he said.

The controversial video has sparked protests from Muslims worldwide. Muslims in Sri Lanka, also staged protests and demonstrations outside the US embassy over the anti-Islamic video. (KB)

All of the temples, monasteries, statues as well as the Bronze age material will all be destroyed by a Chinese government-owned company called China Metallurgical Group Corporation (MCC). Six villages and the mountain range will also be destroyed to create a massive open-pit style copper mine.
Company has given 3 years to clear the site or be destroyed. Deadline is on Dec 2012

What about the direct attack on many mosques in sri Lanka by your own people and the Buddhist monk. This condemn on video about Islam, but here attack on mosques and the civilians. What a double game.

Very well done Sri Lankan Buddhist. This is what is needed. Every body has the right claim their religion is the best but no one has the right condemn others religion whatever the reasons.

Guys, Bahmiyan Buddha statute was destroyed by Afghans and we condemn that as Muslims since Islam does not permit that. However, the real reason those people destroyed was that UNICEF was trying to Rebuild the area for Tourist attraction when the entire Bahmiyan province was suffering from poverty and lack of water. When the people asked the UN to give them infrastructure but instead they wanted to renovate this ancient relics. Besides those Buddha statute were not worshipped by anybody either. Further did the LORD Buddha ever said to worship him?

Condemning the video which has hurt Muslim sentiments, is appreciated but the acts of violence against people and property in retaliation by some uncouth elements, resulting even in the killing of some people should also be equally condemned.

How strong the Teachings of religions? is a lesson from all these stories.
Did Buddhist rioted after damaging or insulting their Religion and still happening?
The teachings were strong. A movie or a sputa or a statue cannot destroy the teachings. Only the attitudes make the damage.
Some religions are for knowledgeable higher levels only.
Till then, these stories will go for long.
