Lankan Tamils lock Nigerian officials
Tiruchi: A group of Sri Lankan Tamils in a special camp within the Central Prison campus in Tamil Nadu locked up the inner gate with three Nigerian officials inside on Tuesday.
The officials came to the camp for completing immigration formalities for the eight Nigerians housed in the camp prior to their deportation to their country.
Police sources said the Sri Lankan Tamils, who had been seeking basic facilities and a western toilet for one of their differently abled colleagues, locked the inner gate from inside after the officials were about to take photographs of the Nigerian detenus.
With help from Nigerian detenus, the officials broke the lock using a stone and came out.
The Nigerian detenus expressed their objection over the Sri Lankan Tamils act prompting the intervention of the Camp Tahsildar and police officers.(The Hindu)
