The two students who were found dead this morning in Gampaha were key members of the Inter University Students’ Federation, the student body said

Speaking to the Daily Mirror IUSF convenor Sanjeewa Bandara said that the IUSF has serious concerns about the manner in which the accident had allegedly taken place.

“We have serious doubts about how this accident took place, the students were active members of the Kelaniya and Ruhunu universities and were on their way to collect handouts for the protest march” he said.

Addressing a specially convened news conference this evening, IUSF convenor Sanjeewa Bandara said they had reasonable suspicions that this was an organised incident rather than an accident.

“We have lodged a complaint with the Gampaha police about this. Our struggle cannot be hampered either by intimidation or by using spies. We will continue our battle to save the country's free education”, he added. (Ajith Siriwardana)

This leading students statements shows us and to the world that our poor mentality. specially they are university students, the leading educated body of the society . If they are lack of honesty and true moral values what about the others .. whole word see you read you ...we are not trusted . people who live out side srilanaka knows best and people who about to leave srilanka deiyange pihitai.

Whenever something is free, people do not appreciate it. I would strongly advocate that our universities charge a fee that could be paid by the student obtaining loans to be paid back when the student is gainfully employed. As events have shown we can also no longer maintain the status quo.

I think country is slowely moving into another mess up.rulers and civil activists must be mindfull about the governance,rule of law and democracy.otherwise this will lead to a major catestropy.don't underestimate the university strike.think about what has happened to Ershad of Bangladesh and some of the other rulers.resolve major governence issues asap.revert credible parlimentary democracy,start without any ego negotiations with university teachers,clean political parties from thugs,tyrannies and corrupt.
