Refused to bribe Friday, 27 April 2012 05:28 PM
i am so comforted by the ministers words. Even though I have no idea what 2 quids are & why betel has anything to do with bread.
So how many quids = the rise in fuel ? the rise in milk ? etc etc
Seems like if you ever use betel you probably wont be able to afford it if you want to eat anything but rice !
Mervyhn Szilvah Friday, 27 April 2012 05:34 PM
Sri Lanka is a very lucky country to be blessed with such intelligent and selfless politicians.
And by the way did you here the latest challenge Bandu has thrown about making 350 sting hoppers with one kg of flour?

george Friday, 27 April 2012 06:55 PM
all what we need is a bunch of politicians to tell us what to eat and what not to eat! When the minister gets to that extremely hot place (hell) he can bake some bread for us for free!
Gamini Udagepola Friday, 27 April 2012 06:47 PM
Anyway, people must find a way to earn that extra money. It’s a BIG Worry for poor people. Ww’s comparison is ok only for RICH AND ABLE people.
Mamai raja Friday, 27 April 2012 07:15 PM

LABBA Saturday, 28 April 2012 02:19 AM
now quid of beetle is 15 rupees the cheapest in the market may be 20 rupees. He should check this prices in the market first. I wonder how a man can change for his personal gains. because we remember what he used to talk when he was being in JVP. If he only gets the salary of a minister he also can not manage to survive in this conditions raising two children, house hold expense, fuel for personal transport and food and entertainment but for sure he is getting more than that, simply that means he is misappropriating public funds ,
adzx Saturday, 28 April 2012 02:28 AM

Sherlock Holmes Saturday, 28 April 2012 03:32 AM
With brilliant economists and financial managers like Wimal and Bandula in the Cabinet we dont have to skip some meals to balance the Budget. We can live on Bulath and shorten our lives by getting oral cancer. That will balance the budget.
wasantha Saturday, 28 April 2012 03:16 AM
Cancel the rupee and bring the bulath vita as currency. This is the last time you are in parliament.

Nodrog Saturday, 28 April 2012 05:10 AM
Yes. This fool has forgotten the days when he (maybe) had to live on a fixed income which made increases like this play havoc with the monthly budget. For him it may be just a joke but to many it could be the difference between eating and not eating.
Christopher Saturday, 28 April 2012 05:27 AM
These guys talk through their rear ends. The solution is not to be changing this and that when convenient, but to manufacture what we need or increase production if we are already manufacturing.
Do you know that the desert country Saudi Arabia is one of the largest wheat flour exporters in the world including to SL? They do it by making their lands fertile and able to retain water by using KOHUBATH imported from SL and using deep wells for drip irrigation. We need to think out of the box and not think with our mouths like WW.
Malith Saturday, 28 April 2012 05:29 AM
What a foolish statement. If this guy was in JVP today, he will be the first to create havoc in Colombo by organizing rallies and protest asking the Government to put the Bread price down. Just imagine these guys holding high posts in the Government. Holly crap. What a state of affairs. Without saying sorry for putting the price up, this foolish short man is telling the people its only a bulath viata price. Having guys like this fool, Mervin, Bandula, is the biggest problem today for the Government and not the bread price hike...
rana Saturday, 28 April 2012 05:31 AM
Don't you and your family eat cakes, buns, pastries made out of wheat flour? Saw you eating cake in Parliment canteen when Raja visited. Even you are still using Gmail. What a liar?
Anurasir Saturday, 28 April 2012 05:13 AM
He is right. If the JVP say that. It's okay, Now it's the SLG say that. it's not okay. We have to encourage local growers. Keep it up Wimal.
Rana Saturday, 28 April 2012 05:42 AM
