DMK president and former Tamil Nadu chief minister M.Karunanidhi Tuesday said India should take up efforts in the United Nations for holding a referendum in Sri Lanka for creation of a separate Tamil Eelam.
Welcoming the idea of a referendum for the creation of Tamil Eelam, Karunanidhi, writing for the party mouthpiece Murasoli, said: "The demand for holding referendum amongst Tamils for the creation of Tamil Eelam is welcome."
"At the intervention of United Nations, some countries have been formed and got recognition. Similarly a referendum should be conducted amongst Tamils for the creation of Tamil Eelam and United Nations should take steps for that."
He said India should given necessary support and pressure for the measure. (IANS)

The Jaffna tamils of Sri Lanka are an indegeonous population unlike the burghers, Indian tamils, malays etc...If you can understand this little bit of sense, you will understand why it is not wrong to give the Jaffna tamils a federal state within a united Sri Lanka. It finally boils down to developing and administrating regions by their own. Surely sinhalese would not like a group of tamils administrating Galle, Hambantota and Matara? Would you?

Go to India and look. All good jobs at Mumbai Airport is for fair skinned Indians. Dark Indians, like Tamils clean toilets at the airport and doing coolie jobs. Call that freedom? Be patien and be reasonablet, a solution will come from Sri Lanka and not from India. Tamils and Sinhala can live together happily.
